Meena
Serendib is
an actress/poet/dancer. She recently received her B.A. in Theater
with a minor in French from UCLA. She is currently working on
the PRT Co-op show "Bobbie's Big-Time Variety Show".
While at UCLA, she helped create an ensemble written rendition
of Luigi Pirandello's Six Characters in Search of an Author playing
the role of "Stepdaughter" for which she immersed herself
in 5 months of intense Commedia Dell'arte training. Previous
to this production, she played the role of "Jayanti"
in Cornerstone Theater Company's A Long Bridge Over Deep Waters.
Meena has also worked with hereandnow, East West Players, and
lead members of the Greek National Chorus in the Getty commissioned
piece Swallow Song.
Her spoken word has been featured in the 2005 ArtWallah Evening
Show, Diaspora Flow, and various open mics.
As a dancer, Meena choreographed for the 2005 YouthWallah showcase
and was a principal dancer for the Taal Dance Company. She is
a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, currently training with Smt.
Malathi Iyengar of Rangoli Dance Company. She has previously
trained with Smt. Viji Prakash and the Bay Area's Smt. Sundara
