Peter translated the Bertolt Brecht play “Saint Joan of the Slaughterhouses”, produced at PRT in 2009. His original play “Relative Madness” was produced in the PRT Co-op in 2003.

He translated fifteen songs by the singer-songwriter Jacques Brel from the original French, and directed and narrated a cabaret show of those songs: “Jacques Brel: A Life in Song”, which won the 2008 Entertainment Today “Ticketholder Award” for Best Cabaret Performance in Los Angeles (runner-up for Best Translation).

Peter’s play “Struggling Truths” was produced in Los Angeles at the Odyssey Theater, and was nominated for the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle’s “Best New Play of the Year” award. It was subsequently produced in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where it was nominated by the Detroit Free Press for “Best Play of the Year”. It was later produced in Chicago, San Diego, and Sacramento, and there was an article about the play in TCG’s ‘American Theater’ magazine in February of 2002.

Peter’s translation of Bertolt Brecht’s “Baal” was produced in a five-month sold-out run in New York City in 2000. “Baal” was later produced in Los Angeles, by the Yale Cabaret Hollywood Theater, directed by Peter.

A member of the Story Analysts Union for over twenty-five years, Peter has worked for every major Hollywood film studio, and has analyzed well over 5,000 screenplays. He has been hired several times as an Expert Witness, for litigation involving screenwriter credits. He taught “Story Analysis for Film and Television” at the American Film Institute for five years.
